New Technology for Internal Bone Lengthening in Children

Researchers at the University of Texas El Paso, in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon, have developed an internal device for lengthening bones in children. Traditional external techniques are potentially damaging to the growth plates, which are not suitable for young children still in development. This new technique will mitigate this risk, as well as decrease infection and pain associated with the procedure.
